Last weekend, I was in Kanchanaburi and the weather was very nice, except during the night when we had quite a few thunderstorms. And it rained the two nights I was there.

And when there is a lot of rain in the Kanchanaburi province, the level of water held by one of the biggest dam in Thailand, the Srinakarin dam, gets too high.

And the Electricity Authorities have no choice but to release excessive water from the dam, downstream.

They released the water during the weekend, which raised the water level in the Kwai river by 2.7 metres. It flooded most nearby homes but we could also see it 65 km downstream, next to the bridge on the river Kwai.
