So, this is now official, there are more than 1000 cases of swine flu in Thailand. And probably many more since not too many people in Thailand will go to the the hospital when they get a fever. And get tested for the H1N1 virus.

I actually never heard about Thai people getting the flu before. For good reasons, I think, isn't the flu virus a virus that likes winter and low temperatures?

But this flu virus is different, it was born in an hot country and started affecting people when temperatures were on the high side.

So when we are told a vaccine for this swine flu virus has to be developped before the flu season, i.e. before winter time in the North hemisphere, do they forget this particular virus was born in Mexico, where there is no winter?

And it is the case, as it seems it is, we're going to be in troubles. No more flu season, the flu will be in summer and winter. And it could kill a lot of people in developping countries, people who were so far "protected" because they live in a country having a hot climate...

Viruses don't care about temperature

I doubt that this is a virus for hot countries, the only temperature this virus "cares" about is the body temperature of its victim. It is definitely not the first flu virus which spreads in Thailand, from what I read it's common to have a flu wave during the raining season, with also several casualties. Maybe same like the winter season in Europe - people coming into more close contact, and also more susceptible due to cold and wet weather. But this was never real news as noone (especially the media) cared about it, but now every flu infection is big news and starts off a lot of blind actionism - closing of school, cleaning off the streets, even though neither one can really help.

And in all this swine flu mania one fact gets totally ignored - this virus is apparently LESS deadly than normal flu viruses, contrary what the first reports from Mexico suggested and now everyone still thinks.

The whole thing is a scam to get you to take the very dodgy Tamiflu etc. The swine flu is man made and first hit america G.I's in the 70's.

Start using critical thinking and not what the TV says.
